Elevation

Elevation formed with vocalist Nathan Smith in 2002. Now, only years later, this five-piece has all of the essential elements needed for their rise to greatness.

Smith explains, “I kind of have been in the band for about five or six years just writing and developing a repertoire and also just kind of figuring out who we were.” Lead guitarist, Andrew Averso, continues by saying, “It took us a good while to get all the right members together, but everything finally came together, and we just took off running.”

Running, indeed. With such a full and sweeping sound, Elevation has captured audiences nationwide and has successfully filled a void in the musical community. In Elevation, rock has returned to its southern roots; genuinely reviving the genre where most other bands have failed, whilst providing a refreshing and positive appeal to a modern audience.

Although it is clear that Elevation's music is heavily influenced by classic rock, some of their songs tease the boundaries of genre; sometimes shifting to a more indie or ambient sound. But as the songs play with different sounds so does Smith's voice, distinctive yet familiar (going from soft to punchy, or from clear to gritty) but always completely convincing. Averso also hails Smith as “the most genius songwriter I have ever come across working with,” asserting that Smith “always goes straight for the best melody.”

The band is rounded out by rhythm guitarist Luke Hickok, bassist Chase Schell, and drummer Stephen Bailey.

The key to Elevation's strength does not just lie in the talent of its five members, but more so in the tightly knit friendships between all of the group's individuals.

Despite the differing personalities, it is clear, when encountering Elevation, that these men make up a tight band of brothers. As bassist Chase Schell relates, “Everyone takes care of each other. We are very concerned about everyone else. We have a big sense of security among the band; it's hard to find that.”

The band's debut album Strangelove was recorded in Atlanta in the winter of 2007. The album was produced by Dan Hannon (Manchester Orchestra, King Konga, Aaron Shust) and mastered by Grammy Award winner Adam Ayan (Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, Incubus).

Elevation's first single off of the new album, “Razoreyes,” was re-mixed by Mark Endert, a superstar producer who has worked with Maroon 5, The Fray, and Madonna.

Strangelove was released on August 5th, 2008 by 50 Records/SONY/RED.

Gravity Burn

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Gravity Burn has searched the globe for the perfect ingredients. Female-fronted hard rock that leaves not a stationary head, Gravity Burn is definitely set up to rock the house! Formed in the fall of 2006 by drummer Josh Hack and guitarist Mike Buffa, Gravity Burn slowly, but surely progressed. After most of the musical arrangements were done, Hack and Buffa began the arduous task of finding the perfect vocalist. After numerous ad postings and an exhaustive search, Magdalena Ollar was found. Imported all the way from Krakow, Poland, Ollar impressed the Gravity Burn guys with numerous communication exchanges and a few demos. After the first jam session and the first few minutes, it was indeed certain that Gravity Burn had its vocalist. In December 2006, the band began writing and rehearsing their new material to search for the remaining member of the band. After a few weeks, the first demo was recorded at Virtuo Sound Studio in Kenessaw, GA. The word spread like wildfire and before even playing their first gig, Gravity Burn had received airplay on The Project 96.1. What followed next was an extremely fast ascent to the top of the Atlanta music scene. Endorsements had begun to roll in from manufacturers such as Sonor Drums, Silverfox Drumsticks, Spector Basses, X/2 Digital Wireless and many more expected! By November of 2007, with just four months under its belt, Gravity Burn was signed to Renaissance Records (Koch Distribution). The debut full-length album,
"Weight and Sea" is IN STORES NOW!

Norma Jean

Norma Jean was formed in Douglasville, GA (a suburb of Atlanta), in 1997. In the early 2000s, the band recorded two CDs as Luti-Kriss. Their first release was the 5 EP, followed in 2001 by the full-length Throwing Myself on Seattle's Solid State label, a subsidiary of Tooth and Nail Records. Often mistaken for the controversial rapper Ludacris — who, coincidentally, is from the Atlanta area — the members of Luti-Kriss opted to adopt the Norma Jean name. Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child introduced this new moniker in 2002; it was also the band's heaviest, most brutal effort to date. While Norma Jean's first recordings inspired comparisons to Limp Bizkit and Korn, Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child was often compared to Hatebreed. Isis and Mastodon producer Matt Bayles lent their help to 2005's O God, the Aftermath, while Korn and Limp Bizkit producer Ross Robinson helmed the epic Redeemer in 2006. Chris Raines, the drummer for Spitfire, joined the band in early 2008, and the new lineup released Antimother that summer.
